Recognizing ALL Our Service Members First I would like to take a moment to recognize all the men and women bravely serving our country with courage as they sacrifice their own lives on and off the front line.

We have watched countless news segments of service men and women exchanging farewells with their families, while tears run down emotional faces and boys and girls reach out for one last hug from their Mom or Dad before they go off to war.

While I watch these touching moments I begin to construct a skewed picture of what an American family is and who is sacrificing their lives for our country, that off-center picture is of opposite sex couples that raise children together.

The media coverage we have not seen are the other men and women who also proudly serve their country exchanging farewells with their families too, while tears run down emotional faces and boys and girls reach out for one last hug from their Mom or Dad before they go off to war. These are gay, lesbian and bisexual families (GLB). The lack of news coverage is probably because of the United States Military’s policy called “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, Don’t Pursue, Don’t Harass.” (more…)

– Proudly Serving the Lesbian Community Since 1983

In 2003, The Highlands Inn will celebrate its 20th year. Unquestionably one of the country’s finest lesbian resorts, The Highlands was also one of the first to define itself as a resort exclusively for lesbians—as its motto says, “a lesbian paradise.”

The Highlands has been offering welcoming, tastefully decorated accommodations and scrumptious breakfasts to guests since 1983. Located on 100 private wooded acres in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, the Inn is actually a complex of three buildings—the Main Inn with 13 guest rooms, the Farmhouse (5 guest rooms), and a rustic Cottage. This unusually large property provides an atmosphere of peaceful and refreshing privacy, both outdoors and throughout its common areas, the spacious fireplaced living room, library, wicker-filled porch, and huge sunny breakfast room. The guest rooms and common areas are distinctively furnished with antiques, fine linens, original artwork, and fresh flowers, creating the ambiance of a Victorian country home. Other amenities include the 54-foot heated pool, two large Jacuzzis (indoors and outdoors), 15 miles of trails right on the property, and an extensive lesbian/gay video collection. (more…)
